Around Campus - Intro to Film and Video

Students in Communications Media Professor Robert Harris' Intro to Film and Video class learn to load and use a 16mm film camera. Intro to Film & Video is the introductory course in the Film & Video sequence where students are exposed to the basics of production and post-production for both digital and photochemical media. Topics include understanding and using visual language, camera operation, understanding the film and video production process, basic editing, production crew structure and interpersonal communication. Students shoot and edit both 16mm film and digital video. Learn about our Film & Video Program here.

Washington Center Internship Info Session

The campus welcomed Ansilta De Luca from The Washington Center (TWC) to discuss internship opportunities in the nation's capital for Summer and Fall 2026. Fitchburg State University TWC Liasson Economics, History and Political Science Professor Paul Weizer was on hand to answer questions as well.

Foundations of Professional Writing - Q&A with President Hodge

Last week, the morning of our Homecoming Pep Rally, President Hodge visited English Studies Professor Heather Urbanski's Foundations of Professional Writing course for a Q&A with students. As President Hodge holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Master's degrees in English and Women's Studies, she is uniquely qualified to address students questions and share how she and her executive cabinet handle communications at the university.

Homecoming Weekend: Falcons Tailgate

Before this afternoon's football game, Homecoming Weekend continued  with the Falcons Tailgate at the Wallace Civic Center parking lot. Fans and family alike geared up for the day’s games with their own tailgate cookout. If you stopped by President Hodge’s Tailgate Zone, you got one of President Hodge's, literally, branded Fitch-burgers. Afterward, the festivities moved to Elliot Field where the Falcons football team took on the Framingham State Rams.

Fall Open House, Saturday, October 4, 2025

Today was a beautiful day for the first installment of our Fall Open House. It's an ideal way for perspective students to find out everything they want to know about Fitchburg State University. After a welcome remarks from Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Success Pamela McCafferty and President Donna Hodge, attendees took part in information sessions - where they had the opportunity to meet with faculty, current students, coaches, and staff, and later were able to tour the campus. As this was also our Homecoming Day, attendees received an All Access Pass to all of our Homecoming events; Tailgate, Football Game, Soccer Game, and our Homecoming carnival. Photography Students Provide Headshot Service
