MassBioEd was on Campus today for a High School Teacher Basic Biotechnology Skills & Equipment in Your Classroom program. Professors Ronald Krieser and Eric Williams assisted with the training.

Professor Ronald Krieser's genetics lab used a fluoroscope to identify mitochondria within cells at the Antonucci Science Building. Fluoroscopy is an imaging technique that uses X-rays to obtain real-time moving images of the interior of an object. Learn more about our Biology Programs here.

Devin Tormey '22 has always loved to paint, and when she found she could make money selling her paintings as a business, she saw an opportunity to merge two passions.

The senior business administration major from Fitchburg decided to develop a formal business plan for her artistic pursuits as her capstone thesis project for the university’s Honors Program. She credits her advisor, Assistant Professor John Crawley of the Business Administration Department, who encouraged her to fold her artwork into those plans.

“Devin is a tremendously talented student and artist,” Professor Crawley said. “Her work in the classroom is exceptional and her artwork moves the viewer.”

Here, students in Professor Kelly Morgan's Voice and Articulation Class, which concentrates on the elements of vocal production and presentation, use the same sentence to convey different meanings utilizing vocal manipulation coupled with their physicality. In Professor Robert Harris' Film Styles Genres & Movements class, students experimented with creating an entire world using newspapers. While some students acted out scenes, others recorded the action by traditional and contemporary means; film and digital. This course blends theoretical and historical concepts associated with a selected genre, style or movement within a production course setting. Learn more about our Film Studies Programs here.

The Career Services and Advising Center will sponsored its Job and Internship Fair today, March 29 at the Athletics and Recreation Center. Students had the opportunity to meet with employers from several different industries. Students, regardless of year of graduation, and alumni were strongly encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to connect employers looking to hire Fitchburg State University students.

Students in Professor Billy Samulak's General Chemistry Lab conducted an Absorbance Spectroscopy and Sports Drinks experiment. Students used visible spectroscopy to determine the concentration of a food dye different flavors/colors of sports drinks. Learn more about our School of Health and Natural Sciences here. 

Students in Professor Kevin McCarthy's Sound Design class had an "ear opening" experience when they got a chance to use state-of-the-art audio equipment.
