After a luncheon with Deans and Department Chairs, our newest faculty members were welcomed by President Dr. Richard Lapidus before Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Patricia Marshall, began Day 1 of a two day New Faculty & Librarian Orientation - Promoting Faculty Success program.

Earlier today, Career Services and Advising (CSA) held their Career Champions program, which connects and engages faculty and staff who are actively assisting students in determining and reaching their career goals. The content of the program focused on building knowledge of career development theories, learning strategies to incorporate career learning into practice and creating a plan for implementing these strategies.

The campus welcomed more than 150 educators from across the state on Tuesday for the  Reach Higher Massachusetts  Summer Convening, including guidance counselors and other professionals whose work helps students navigate their paths to higher education.

 

President Lapidus welcomed the attendees with a brief introduction to Fitchburg State, its unique academic programs and its commitment to supporting student success. Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Deputy Commissioner Regina Robinson saluted the attendees for their commitment to changing lives one student at a time, before inspiring keynote address by C.J. Powell, director of advocacy for the National Association for College Admission Counseling .

Our newest Falcons, the Class of 2027, got the chance to meet the Deans in their selected majors as the fourth session of Summer Orientation 2023 wrapped up.

Our fourth Summer Orientation 2023 continued with information session, where both parents and students learned about Financial Aid, Campus Safety with  Fitchburg State University Police, Academic Transitions with members of our Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center, and what a Fitchburg State University experience and education offers.

We are very excited to welcome our Incoming students for the fourth and final session of our Summer Orientation 2023 this morning. After ID photos and some general "housekeeping",  our newest Falcons, the Class of 2027  received boisterous welcome remarks from Associate Dean for Student Development Hank Parkinson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Patricia Marshall, and Vice President for Student Affairs Laura Bayless in the Hammond Main Lounge. After introduction of our Orientation Leaders, groups ventured out to the quad for some ice breaker activities, then to a day full of information sessions and activities.
