Theater Technical Director Jo Nazro, Fitchburg State University Industrial Technology/Technical Theater alum, discusses stage blocking with students in her Stage Management class. This course is a lecture/laboratory study of the professional union approach to stage management and personnel mediation in stage production. Students will apply knowledge and technique related to contract and union policy in various repertory scenarios. Theater Professor Kelly Morgan teaches his course in Playwrighting in Weston Auditorium. This course will teach students the craft and art of Playwrighting for the Stage. Yesterday, the J.A. Leonard Middle School, from Old Town, Maine performed in Weston Auditorium. The band visited Fitchburg State to perform selections where they received valuable feedback from Community Music Program Instructor & Musician Joseph Wright, spouse of Dr. Amy McGlothlin of our Music Department as part of their annual Band Festival Trip.

Earlier this month, the Communications Media Department  in association with Rollstone Congregational Church, Work Inc., and the Making Opportunity Count (MOC) Youth Innovation Center  presented "They, Them, Those." The play is a thought-provoking exhibit, asking the question, What is it in our nature that causes us to OTHER our fellow man? Conceived, sculpted, and performed by the artists themselves. Exhibit Tour, followed by a post-performance discussion, moderated by Paula Collins of Work Inc.

On Friday, April. 24 @ 7pm, the Communications Media Department will begin the run of  its Spring theatrical production of  “Cabaret in the City”  in the performance space at the Rollstone Congregational Church 199 Main Street Fitchburg, MA. Admission and refreshments are FREE and open to the public.  “Cabaret in the City”  is a collection of scenes, monologues, dances, and songs about life in the big city. Students in Andrea Olmstead's Drawing class work on their projects in the Conlon Fine Arts building. This studio course introduces students to the practice of drawing with emphasis on the description of form through means of line, shade, and perspective.
