Music Program - Spring Music Mega Mix

Fitchburg State University’s instrumental and choral ensembles performed a joint concert last evening in Weston Auditorium. The concert program served as  a showcase of “bite-sized” performances by the Community Orchestra, Concert Band, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, the new Falcon Drumline, and the Fitchbyrds Modern Jazz Band. Ensembles included Fitchburg State students, community members, faculty and staff. Faculty members Jonathan Harvey, Amy McGlothlin, and Hildur Schilling hosted and performed with their respective group. Learn more about our Music Programs here.

ARTeries 2026 - Opening Reception

  Students, their families, faculty and staff gathered in Hammond Gallery.  last week for the opening reception of ARTeries. ARTeries is Fitchburg State University Fine Art Department’s  annual juried exhibition that showcases the strongest original student work in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed-media art. ARTeries provides an opportunity for the university community to celebrate the artistic talents of Fitchburg State students.   Student works will be on display until April 17, 2026. Around Campus - Voice and Articulation Class

Students in Theater Professor Kelly Morgan's Voice and Articulation course recite their monologues while sitting back-to-back; their partner relying solely on listening to catch verbal patterns and intonations. Professor Morgan gives feedback during the process. This course concentrates on the elements of vocal production and presentation with special emphasis on the study and application of phonetic theory.

Wallace Civic Center - Pep Band Keeps Crowd Engaged

The Falcon Men's Hockey team may have faced a heartbreaker in Saturday’s overtime finish, but the energy at the Wallace Civic Center never wavered. That’s thanks to Professor  Amy McGlothlin (Director of Bands & Creative Arts Therapies Program), who kept the pulse of the crowd pounding. Leading a fusion of our Drumline and Concert Band volunteers, McGlothlin ensured that while the scoreboard didn't go our way, the Falcon spirit remained undefeated.

Around Campus - Intro to Studio Art

Students in Intro to Studio Art class learned about the  color theory, a practical combination of art and science, utilizing the color wheel in the Conlon Fine Arts building. This course provides a hands-on introduction to drawing, painting, and sculpture. The course emphasizes the fundamentals of each studio discipline, and will also explore the expressive potential of visual art: how the various elements of drawing, painting, and sculpture can be used to embody very different feelings and ideas. Around Campus - Ceramics: Pinch Pot

Students in Andrea Olmstead's Ceramics class worked on pinch pot vessels during this morning's ceramics class in Conlon Fine Arts. . Stage Movement: Combat - Sword Play

Theater Professor Kelly Morgan teaches students how to utilize the sword as an extension of the character and a a vehicle by which the actor propels the story in his Stage Movement: Combat in Weston Auditorium. In this particular class, students move from sabre to broad sword. This workshop-oriented course utilizes the basic techniques of movement with emphasis on developing each student's potential for effective physicalization of a character on stage.
