# Fitchburg State University Upward Bound Math & Science Program - Experiential Learning

Local high school students enrolled in our Fitchburg State University [Upward Bound Math & Science Program (UBMS)](https://www.fitchburgstate.edu/student-support/academic-support/trio/upward-bound-math-and-science) Summer Program have been diligently working on their experiential learning projects in anticipation of today's Experiential Learning Student Showcase in the Main Lounge of the Hammond Building which celebrates their hard work, creativity, and accomplishments. Outstanding student achievements in academics, leadership, creativity, and community spirit will be recognized at this evening's Awards Night in the Ellis White Lecture Hall. This ceremony is a chance to celebrate our students' hard work and to thank the families, educators, and community members who support them.
[Upward Bound](https://www.fitchburgstate.edu/student-support/academic-support/upward-bound) provides academic support through tutoring services, educational and college preparatory workshops, and cultural field trips stressing academic development, The program serves high school students from Fitchburg and Leominster for the duration of their high school career and beyond. The 6-week summer residential program gives students an opportunity to live on the Fitchburg State University campus and experience life as a college student. Students attend academic classes in the morning, participate in community service worksites in the afternoon, are engaged in a variety of entertaining workshops in the evening and have the option of attending college visits and cultural trips on the weekend.
