Winter Orientation was held in the Hammond Center this morning to welcome our newest Falcons to campus. After registration, the day began with welcome remarks from Dean for Student Development Hank Parkinson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Patricia Marshall, Vice President for Student Affairs Laura Bayless, and our Student Orientation Leaders. Students and their families heard presentations from various student services departments including Commuter Affairs, Housing and Residential Services, Wellness & Counseling Services, Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center,  Career Services and Advising (CSA), Student Accounts, University Police, and Community Health Connections, Welcome to the flock!

Recently, Lourdes Ramirez, coordinator of field placements, partnerships and recruitment for Fitchburg State’s School of Education welcomed a cohort of local high school students enrolled in The Future Educator Academy program to campus for a day of programming. Students completed a badge focused on Supporting Mental Wellness in the Classroom, Working with Students Who are Underserved, Traditionally Marginalized, and Disenfranchised, and a badge on performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to adults and infants.

Members of our Admission Staff, along with our Student Ambassadors/Tour Guides, eagerly welcomed three groups to the Fitchburg State University campus Friday. We were delighted to host seventy students from Narragansett High School, twenty students from Boston Prep Charter School, and twelve transfer students. Each group attended Information session, toured our beautiful campus, and then had lunch where they were able to ask current students about the university. 

Yesterday afternoon, the Fitchburg State community gathered to celebrate the 25th anniversary of TRIO Student Support Services here on campus. Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Bayless kicked things off  by welcoming everyone to the event, and thanking some key offices/personnel that helped make the event happen. Next, to honor I Am First Day, Dean of Students Dr. Hank Parkinson enlightened attendees with some "first-gen facts." Lastly, Director of TRIO Student Support Services Elizabeth Swartz thanked both speakers, and invited everyone to look at the four-floors poster-installation in the library, and enjoy cupcakes and refreshments.

Today was another beautiful day for our second Fall Open House. Open House is an ideal way for perspective students to find out everything they want to know about Fitchburg State University. The Fitchburg State University Great Move In 2022 was capped off with the Falcon Nest BBQ. The new arrivals got to take part in an array of activities, and had one more chance to spend time with family before they left them in their new home.

The Fitchburg State University Great Move In 2022 continued through this morning and into this afternoon. A BIG SHOUT OUT to our students and student athletes who make the whole process move fluidly.

It's all hands on deck today for the Fitchburg State University Great Move In 2022! This morning our athletic teams, staff, University Police, students, and more were spread out between Check-In at the Wallace Civic Center, and the dormitories on the main campus.
