This afternoon, the university's Career Services and Advising Center sponsored a Health Sciences career fair in the Hammond Main Lounge. The program was open to all students in all majors, with a focus on positions in; nursing, biology, chemistry, and exercise and sports science.

The focus in this course is on the role of managed communications in public relations unique to industry, human services and educational institutions. Fitchburg State University’s Future Falcon Academy welcomed middle school students from Fitchburg, Leominster, Ayer/Shirley and Gardner for the Future Falcon Academy this week. This immersive week long experience provided each student with a fun and meaningful introduction to university life. Students participated in a variety of engaging activities, including a Fitchburg State University Student Panel and Q&A, College 101 Fair, Animals with a Purpose: How Dogs Support People Every Day, Equity and Diversity in a Multicultural Society, a tour of the Fitchburg State University Police Department, recreational time in the game room, and much more.

Award-winning journalist, author and Fitchburg Councilor-at-Large Sally Cragin brings her theatrical expertise to the Adult Learning in the Fitchburg Area (ALFA) classroom this Spring. As Chair of the Stratton Players, Cragin is leading a deep-dive discussion of The Crucible for her ALFA course "Exploring Plays: Top Theatrical Classics," at the Center for Professional Studies.
The Office of International Education hosted a Study Abroad Fair in the Hammond Main Lounge. Students had the convenience of asking about the many study abroad opportunities available to them here at Fitchburg State University in one location. Programs available in 2026 include; Peace Studies in Ireland, Eat, Speak Italian and History Program in Verona, Italy, Rhetoric in Greece - Communications Program, Nursing Program in Costa Rica, Arts and Game Design Program in Japan.

The Fitchburg State University Mathematics Department hosted an Alumni Career Panel to answer the question; What is the professional value of a Mathematics degree? Panelists represent a wide range of industries, including quantitative finance, education, and software engineering. This was a unique opportunity for current students to learn how to market your analytical skills to recruiters, discover non-traditional career paths for math minors/majors, and network with professionals who once sat in their same seats.

Yesterday afternoon staff gathered in the Falcon Pub for our Admissions & Aid Department Postcard A-Thon for our accepted students. Together, we completed 275 hand-written notes to our accepted students, demonstrating what is truly means to be a member of this special community.

Students in Biology Professor Christopher Picone General Biology II Lab are studying early plant forms (mosses, ferns) in the Antonucci Science Complex. The course examines principles of organismal biology. Topics include evolution, diversity, plant biology, and animal biology. The laboratory emphasizes hypothesis formation and data analysis.

Our Center for Diversity and Inclusiveness, along with the Black Student Union (BSU), THE Latin American Student Organization (LASO), and the Alumni and Giving Office hosted a an engaging panel this Black History Month featuring Fitchburg State alumni who shared their personal journeys, challenges, and triumphs during and after college. The audience heard inspiring stories, gained valuable insights, and engaged in meaningful conversation as we celebrated resilience, achievement, and community.
