President Lapidus joined staff this morning at the North Street Bistro for the second of four Staff Appreciation events, also held simultaneously at the McKay Café. Staff were treated to a beverage, and a snack, with their tickets entered into a prize raffle. The other appreciation dates are, April 7, and May 4, 2022.

The students of Feminist Conversation and Student Government Association, along with some of the finest female professors at Fitchburg State gathered in the Hamond Main Lounge yesterday afternoon for a panel discussion, They shared their own personal journeys and decisions into politics and leadership roles. This panel also celebrated the birthday of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a lawyer, associate justice of the United States Supreme Court, and a mother who spent a lifetime flourishing in the face of adversity. It has been about 20 years since Pi Day, March 14th, has fallen on a class day here at Fitchburg State! In celebration, the Mathematics Department is hosted a 3.14 mile run. At 9:30 Dr. Peter Staab, and others, braved the chilly temperatures for the 3.14 mile run. After some directions from Gerry Higdon, they were off.
Later today, at 1:59pm, there will be Pi(e) Eating and other activities on the quad side of Edgerly Hall. Yes, the time is intentional… Think about it.

Our Women's HERstory Month kicked off this afternoon with an Opening Reception in the G lobby of Hammond Hall where the names of the 12 Women Who Impacted Fitchburg State through the years were unveiled. There was a special performance by the Fitchburg State Choir, led by Jonathan Harvey, DMA. The 12 Women who were recognized at this event were, Alice Palmer, Amelia Gallucci Cirio ‘38, Beverly Farias ‘52, Class of 1897, Gertrude E. Bradt, Helen Ross Russell, Jeanne Antonucci ‘73, ‘78, Jennifer Flanagan ‘04, Michele Zide, Ruth Jefts 1897, Susan Wadsworth, and the ToKalon Society.
