 Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computer Information System, Engineering Technology, and Mathematics faculty and Student Mentors involved in the National Science Foundation (NSF) S-STEM Project gathered in Presidents Hall for the NSF S-STEM Program Year 1 Wrap Up and Celebration. Members of the first year cohort, along with their Student Mentors were recognized for their involvement in this program. The project is committed to improving STEM majors in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computer Information System, Engineering Technology, and Mathematics student experience.

S-STEM Advisory Council Meeting

A team of faculty and student mentors involved in the S-STEM Project, along with some of our Fitchburg State University Engineering Technology Department's Industry Advisory Board (IAB) recently met in Presidents Hall for an information session about the S-STEM Project. The project is committed to improving  STEM majors in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computer Information System, Engineering Technology, and Mathematics student  experience.

Engineering Program - Guest Speaker Series

The Industry Speaker Series organized by the   Engineering Technology Department, had the honor today to welcome Hedrick Ellis, Ed.M. , Director of Academic Technology and an adjunct professor at Endicott College. The presentation, titled Extended Reality Technology in Architecture and Construction, highlighted the application of augmented and virtual reality technologies in architecture and construction management. Our students and faculty had the opportunity to experience augmented reality (AR) via the Wanna Kicks app, and  a virtual reality (VR) walkthrough of CAD projects developed by students from another institution.

Business and Technology Career Fair

Yesterday, our Career Services and Advising Center hosted the Business and Technology Career Fair event in the Hammond Hall Main Lounge. The event was  open to anyone interested in careers in business, engineering technology, construction management, and IT/technology fields. First-year students, sophomores, juniors, and seniors were strongly encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to connect with employers looking to hire Fitchburg State students.

Around Campus - Major Authors; Chaucer with a Twist

 English Studies Professor Kisha Tracy welcomed representatives from across the campus for a session of her Major Authors course in Thompson Hall this afternoon.. Professor Tracy  is teaching Chaucer with a bit of a twist - asking students to view his work through the lens of their specific majors. She welcomed ambassadors from Exercise and Sports Science,  Communications Media, Criminal Justice, Education, and Engineering Technology to work with her students on their unique angle on this major author. Engineering Technology Professor Ana Mesquita-Emlinger brought students in her Architectural Design course to present the various architectural elements of the Canterbury Cathedral.

Around Campus - Engineering Design & Fabrication II

This course studies mass production theory, systems and procedures in woodworking and residential construction, includes engineering design and leads to prototype development.
