Yesterday, our Career Services and Advising Center hosted the Business and Technology Career Fair event in the Hammond Hall Main Lounge. The event was open to anyone interested in careers in business, engineering technology, construction management, and IT/technology fields. First-year students, sophomores, juniors, and seniors were strongly encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to connect with employers looking to hire Fitchburg State students.

Engineering Technology Department Professor Soumitra Basu lectures to students in his Metrology course in the Metrology Lab. The course introduces various shop-floor measurement techniques and provides an understanding of the basics of mechanical, optical and electrical measurement methods.

English Studies Professor Kisha Tracy welcomed representatives from across the campus for a session of her Major Authors course in Thompson Hall this afternoon.. Professor Tracy is teaching Chaucer with a bit of a twist - asking students to view his work through the lens of their specific majors. She welcomed ambassadors from Exercise and Sports Science, Communications Media, Criminal Justice, Education, and Engineering Technology to work with her students on their unique angle on this major author. Engineering Technology Professor Ana Mesquita-Emlinger brought students in her Architectural Design course to present the various architectural elements of the Canterbury Cathedral.

Last week, students - with the assistance of Engineering Technology Professor Wayne Whitfield, put the final touches on a project in their Engineering Design & Fabrication II class. This course studies mass production theory, systems and procedures in woodworking and residential construction, includes engineering design and leads to prototype development.

Yesterday, our Engineering Technology Department hosted a group of students and two teachers from Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School's (Monty Tech) Engineering Program, who spent the day exploring opportunities in Engineering Technology at Fitchburg State University. After welcoming remarks from Department Chair Nirajan Mani, faculty and students, the high school students worked with current students on an eco-centric project in Professor Ana Mesquita-Emlinger's Building Design I course. More presentation s and tours of our facilities were followed by lunch in our dining hall and campus tours by our Admissions Tour Guides.
