Edward Troxler teaching his guitar course in the Conlon Fine Arts building. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of guitar playing including learning basic chords, scales, arpeggios and techniques for playing a variety of musical styles. Emphasis is placed on melody and accompaniment style texture as well as on individual and ensemble playing. Edward Troxler operates Eddy's Music located in Fitchburg, MA.

Yesterday afternoon at the Hammond Hall Art Gallery, Artist Ricardo Barros discussed his artistic process at the opening of his show “An Entanglement of Space and Time.” The inspiring 360-degree panoramic work of Barros is the first art exhibition of the academic year. Fitchburg State University was honored to be part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the NewVue Communities' Fitchburg Arts Community Ribbon Cutting, a transformative downtown project that has converted long-vacant buildings into new artist live/work space. This project is the culmination of endeavors by local, state, and federal elected officials in addition to grass roots community effort.

Fitchburg in the Arts; Fine Art Program Professor Andrea Olmstead walked students through expectations while Director for our Creative Arts Therapies Amy McGlothlin and Director for our Creative Arts Enterprise Jonathan Harvey - with help from current students in our many bands and choirs - held an abridged percussion and singing clinic. Last week, the bands from Old Town Elementary School and J.A. Leonard Middle School of Old Town, Maine performed in Weston Auditorium. The bands visited Fitchburg State to perform three selections each where they received valuable feedback from Dr. Amy McGlothlin of our Music Department as part of their annual Band Festival Trip.
