It was all hands on deck this morning for the Fitchburg State University Great Move In 2024. This morning our athletic teams, staff, University Police, students, and more were spread out between Check-In at the Wallace Civic Center, and the dormitories on the main campus, all in the effort of making our newest Falcons move in process as smooth as possible. The Great Move In will be capped off with the Falcon Nest BBQ this afternoon.

This morning, Director of of TRIO Student Support Services Beth Swartz, held a Managing Stress session with our Orientation Leaders (OLs) in the Hammond Center Main Lounge. She taught the OLs some stress relieving techniques, and discussed strategies on dealing with stressful situations.

Our Office of Student Development Student Orientation Leaders are on campus preparing for orientation sessions for our newest Falcons returning to campus next week. After moving in, and reconnecting over lunch, the Orientation Leaders began a week of training, including a Minute To Win It style team building project.

Yesterday evening, President Donna Hodge and campus leaders from student services across campus welcomed students and families to our third and final Falcon Express One-Stop event in the Hammond Hall Main Lounge. The goal of this event is to provide students with all the resources they need to answer any final questions they may have, and allow students to enroll in their academic coursework with no delays!

This final orientation session gave our newest Falcons, unable to attend previous dates, the opportunity to get schedule information, learn about on-campus opportunities, a chance to connect with faculty, staff and each other, and more. President Donna Hodge, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Patricia Marshall, and Vice President for Student Affairs Laura Bayless welcomed students and their guests this morning in the Hammond Main Lounge. Afterward, our Orientation Leaders lead the students to the quad for some ice breaker activities.

After information sessions to learn more about Fitchburg State, the college search in general, and campus tours, all were welcome to a BBQ and ice cream truck, and to network with each other and members of the university staff.

Our Fitchburg State University Admissions Third Annual College Search Kickoff event is in full swing this morning. It's a perfect day for this event designed for rising Seniors and their families to learn more about not only Fitchburg State, but the college search in general. After checking in, our Guests heard from admission counselors on what we look for in an application; tips on writing an essay; and were able to tour the campus. Afterwards, all will be welcomed to a BBQ and ice cream truck.
