Around Campus - Intermediate Digital Cinema Production

Students in Professor M. Zachary Lee's Intermediate Digital Cinema Production course got their hands on the equipment they will be working with. The course covers professional production techniques used in modern narrative production environments. In addition to achieving competency in lighting, exposure, composition and framing with video cameras, students master the basics of audio production both on location and in studio environments and the editing of the dramatic narrative. Creative narrative skills such as scriptwriting, storyboarding, direction and management are explored in the practical setting of a modern digital cinema environment.

New Major - Digital Media Innovation, BA/BS

Fitchburg State University is launching a new bachelor’s degree in digital media innovation, preparing students for employment in continually evolving and intersecting fields including media/journalism, social media and content development.

The new, STEM-designated program has recently received final approval from the state Board of Higher Education.

The 33-credit major will explore digital media and how digital technology and computing are changing social and cultural systems in employment markets as new tools reshape industries across the globe.

Yesterday, The New York Times bestselling author, and Fitchburg State University Alum, R.A. Salvatore '81, '91 spent the day here on campus. While here on campus, he monitored Professor Les Nelken's Virtual Reality Development, shortly after, he spoke with two classes; The Global Middle Ages, and Sci-Fi and Fantasy Writing. After a luncheon and tour of the campus, the visit ended with "The Future of Storytelling" a discussion on literary and storytelling concepts co-moderated by English Studies Professor Frank Mabee, and Communications Media Professor J.J. Sylvia IV.

Around Campus - Stage Movement: Hand to Hand Combat

From sword play to hand-to-hand combat, Students in Kelly Morgan's Stage Movement: Combat course learned how to safely act out various forms of hand-to-hand combat in this mornings class. Stage movement: Combat is a workshop-oriented course that utilizes the basic techniques of movement that emphasize developing the  student's potential for effective physicalization of a character on stage. Around Campus - Color Dynamics Class

Students in Professor Donald Tarallo's Color Dynamics Course experience color through visual experiments to understand its perceptual, emotive, communicative, and technical aspects in both analog and digital (interaction and motion) forms.
