You’ve earned your associate degree, you’ve passed your NCLEX, and now you’re a registered nurse… congratulations!
While these things provide you access to the medical field, including allowing you to work with patients, recording vitals, operating medical equipment, and passing along basic educational information, wouldn’t it be nice to have additional options?
Perhaps something in public health?

Fitchburg State provides an [online RN to BSN Program](http://www.fitchburgstate.edu/academics/undergraduate-evening-programs/bachelor-of-science-in-nursing-online/) that can meet your needs. It’s designed to prepare you to meet general healthcare needs in many different settings, and is based on legal, ethical, and professional standards.
Pursuing your BSN provides:
- **increased job opportunities**: roles in leadership/management and education require a BSN.
- **preparation for advanced degrees** such as MSN, NP, and PhD.
- **increased salary**: according to payscale.com (2012) the median pay for RNs with a BSN was $62,674 annually while the median annual salary of an RN without a BSN (ADN/diploma) was $50,565.
- **increased marketability** and offers non-hospital opportunities.
- **personal enrichment, pride, and supplemental knowledge**. A 2009 article, (Leonard, T. & Bradford, W.) revealed that “91% of RN-BSN students received personal satisfaction while studying for their BSN, 85% reported professional growth, and 82% increased their knowledge base.”
- **flexibility** to pursue education while remaining on your career track.
And notice that it’s ONLINE! Instead of you having to arrange your schedule around having to be on campus at particular times, it’s based on YOUR schedule. Continue to meet your work and personal obligations, and fit your studies and classwork in where you can.
