Visit us online at fitchburgstate.edu/academics/library. In the right-side column are several key library services: ILLiad, Ask A Librarian, and RefWorks.library8

  • ILLiad, our Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery service, lets you activate your library account, request items from our print collections and request items from other libraries. Pressed for time or don’t live close by? Our Document Delivery component gives you the option to have library items such as books delivered to your home while items such as articles are delivered online into your ILLiad account for you to download.

  • Ask A Librarian chat service, embedded throughout our website and research databases, connects you directly with our librarians at the Reference Desk. Need help developing your research question, forming a search strategy, finding resources or have any questions related to the library? Ask us!

  • RefWorks is a citation management tool that can help you keep track of your research and format your papers and citations. Have two courses using different citation styles? No problem!

In the center, you have easy access to the Library’s resources.

  • Catalog tab: Use the Search box to look for eBooks and books in our General, Reference, Children’s Literature, Young Adult Literature, Oversized and Special Collections. You can also see what materials your professor has placed on Reserve in the library, access Electronic Reserves and find out how to renew your Library and ILLiad items.library2
  • Research Databases tab: select a database from the A-Z dropdown or browse databases by subject. When prompted to login, simply use your Fitchburg State Falcon Key. Don’t have your Falcon Key yet? Contact the Library for a temporary guest login. Depending on the database, you can search for articles, books, media, images and more. Find items that aren’t available through our Library? Request them through ILLiad and we will get them from another library for you!

  • Journals tab: Enter the name of a journal to search our online and print collections to see if we have it. If it’s available as an online subscription or database, just click on the provided link to connect to the journal. If it’s only available in print, come to the library to browse the journal.library5

Can’t come to the library or we don’t have the journal? Use ILLiad – to get specific articles delivered directly to your ILLiad account.

For professors: Consider including a library instruction session or an Embedded Librarian for your course. Sessions can be synchronous or asynchronous. They can be online through your Blackboard course, at your extended campus site or in the library.
