Have you ever heard that from your parents or your older relatives? Well, they're right... you do have it easy.
But don't be fooled... they had it easy as well.
Now, the first graduating class at Fitchburg State... THEY had it way more difficult. They had to make due with a lot less of the things that have been available to us, our parents, and our grandparents for years!
Take a look at some of the things that have become available since the first class graduated from Fitchburg State (back when it was called the State Normal School in Fitchburg):
Mass-production of automobiles (1902)
Airplanes (1903) - modern air travel didn't happen until the 1950s
Ice cream cones (1904)
Electric motored (automatic) washing machines (1911)
Domestic refrigerators (1913) - before this, you either had lots of ice or a cold cellar
Handheld hair dryers (1915)
Penicillin (1928)
Electric clothes dryers (1938)
Velcro (1948)
Countertop microwaves (1967)
Internet (1969) - it didn't become generally available until the 1990s
Personal computers (1977) - and many of the first ones required you to BUILD them
...and many, many more things.
And, continuing the "easy" theme, it's now incredibly easy to speak with an advisor, register for a class, or even apply to a program!
Lucky you!
Are you ready to find out just how easy it is?
