Thinking about going back to school? Looking for advice?

Chances are something might be holding you back:

  • It’s been a long time since you’ve sat in a classroom.
  • You work full time and have a long commute to and from work.
  • You have young children at home.
  • You’ve never taken an online class before.

No matter what factors may be holding you back, you still want or need to get your degree and you have questions about how to get there. So how do you get started? Please come in for an advising session!

During an advising session we get to know each other. What do you do for work? What is your schedule like? Do you have children at home or elderly parents that you care for? All of these questions help me determine if our program is the right fit for what you’re looking for. But you may still have questions:

  • My employer says I need a degree -- what are my next steps to get there?
  • Do you offer classes that fit my schedule (evening or online)?
  • I’m not happy with my job; what do I want to do if I change careers?
  • I know what I want to do next, but I don’t know how to get there. What’s the right program to get me to that goal?
  • How long is it going to take me to get my degree?
  • I’ve attended a few different colleges; how do I get all of my credits into one school and finally finish my degree?

An advising session can answer all of these questions and help get you on track to go back to school. This session is all about you and what you want to do to move forward with a program next week, next month or even next year.

So how do you get an advising appointment through Graduate and Continuing Education? Give me a call at 978-665-3660 or email me at Marylynmgainan@fitchburgstate.edu. I’m here until 6:30 pm Monday through Thursday to meet with you on your schedule. Have a friend or spouse with questions? Bring them along! We can do one on one or group advising. Interested in more than one program? We can even talk through all of your options.
