Dean’s Graduate Scholarship
This award recognizes and honors students who have demonstrated academic excellence during the course of their graduate studies here. The deadline to apply for this opportunity is 2/21/2020. Students must meet the following requirements to be eligible for this award:
- Current graduate students must have a GPA of 4.0.
- Students with a recent admission to a Fitchburg State graduate program must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher to apply for this scholarship.
- International students who have been accepted and admitted to a Fitchburg State graduate program must ensure that their transcripts are validated, indicating an equivalent undergraduate GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 system.
Dean’s Graduate Scholarship will be awarded in the form of tuition and fee waivers and must be used within one year. Maximum award to an individual cannot exceed $1,500.
Dorothy Holmes Toporeck Graduate Scholarship
This award is available to university graduate students who received their undergraduate degree at Fitchburg State and are continuing their education by obtaining a master’s degree at the university. The scholarship honors those students who have achieved academic excellence in their undergraduate studies. The deadline to apply is 2/21/2020 and includes the following eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must have received their undergraduate degree at Fitchburg State with a GPA of 3.25 or higher, and also been admitted into a current graduate program at the university.
- Current graduate students must have a GPA of 3.75 for their graduate coursework and an undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or higher.
Dorothy Holmes Toporeck Graduate Scholarship will be awarded in the form of tuition and fee waivers and must be used within one year.
Dr. Rosemarie Giovino Reading Specialist Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to current graduate students who have completed two required courses in the Reading Specialist Program, SPED/READ 7016 Understanding the Structure of the English Language, and SPED/READ 7017 Psychology of Reading Development and Disabilities. The application deadline is 2/21/2020 and students must meet the following requirements to be eligible:
- Students must submit a letter of recommendation from the course instructors.
- Students must be Wilson Level 1 certified, or undergoing the registration and/or training completion process to become certified.
- Students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or better.
Georgia A. Pasqualone ’99 Memorial Scholarship
The Georgia A. Pasqualone ’99 Memorial Scholarship was established by Anthony M. Pasqualone with the Fitchburg State University Foundation, Inc. in 2018. This scholarship was created to honor Georgia, who was essential in the development of the Graduate Forensic Nursing Program at Fitchburg State where she was an adjunct faculty member for over 20 years. Georgia was a well-respected national and internationally recognized lecturer, writer and forensic expert. She was a retired Lieutenant Colonel, United States Army.
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide merit-based support for graduate students in the Master of Science in Forensic Nursing at Fitchburg State. At least one scholarship of $1000 will be awarded annually, and students are limited to receiving the scholarship up to two times.
Candidates must be matriculated students in the graduate program in Forensic Nursing with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.3. Qualifying students must have completed all required classes for the program except for NURS 9100 Research Project and/or NURS 9500 Practicum in Forensic Nursing. Scholarships will be awarded in the form of tuition and fee waivers and must be used within one year. The deadline for this opportunity is 02/21/2020.
Jack and Lou Leamy Scholarship
This award is available to graduate students, with preference given to students who received their undergraduate degree at Fitchburg State. The scholarship recognizes students who have exhibited a commitment to community service and are enrolled in a master’s degree program here. The deadline to apply for this opportunity is 2/21/2020.
Academic Partnerships Joseph McAloon Memorial Scholarship
The Academic Partnerships Joseph McAloon Memorial Scholarship is named for Professor Joseph McAloon who taught business courses at Fitchburg State University beginning in 1984 until his death in April 2019. The scholarship is awarded in his honor to outstanding students who seek to enroll or continue in Fitchburg State’s Online MBA program. It was established through a generous donation by Dallas, TX-based Academic Partnerships LLC, the University’s technology partner for selected university online programs.
The scholarship awarded for 2020-2021 was $12,510 which covers all tuition and fees to complete one full Online MBA concentration consisting of 30 credit hours.
