With technology constantly changing, schools are investing in technology to help improve and enhance student achievement. Educators need to ensure that students can demonstrate what they know, and not just "know." When implemented properly, these technologies can produce significant gains by boosting engagement with interactive learning especially with at-risk students.

We help you figure out how to best implement technology into your classroom and utilize it to help your students explore and create. By creating the right blend of teaching and technology we can provide the tools necessary for our students to succeed.

This course will introduce participants to online and hybrid learning. Course participants will be introduced to the history of distance education and learn about its growth and the opportunities and challenges it presents for students and teachers. Topics include the history of distance education, the benefits and challenges to learning online, basic course design and analyzing best practices for online learning.

 

50088 EDUC 7203 Using Technology to Enhance Student Achievement

This course will introduce participants to expanding the walls of the traditional classroom with the technology currently available to interact with students. Course participants will be introduced to the tools to supplement the traditional classroom setting and help engage students by using new and exciting formats that meet this generation's expectations and learning styles. Topics covered will include: enhancing presentations, creating content with the latest technologies and tools, continuing discussions outside of the classroom, managing the class outside the classroom, virtual classroom settings and the world of online learning.

Hybrid course - online with in-class meetings on Tuesdays
This course looks at the integration of educational technology in the classroom and its relationship to learning theories and curriculum, specifically, the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. The course also explores the use of the Internet as a classroom resource to strengthen curriculum. Various Internet related topics are covered, such as acceptable use policies and copyright issues.

50069 EDUC 7205 Topics: Google Applications for Educators

July 18-22  8 am - 4 pm

This course will focus on using Google Apps for Education with a focus on creativity and collaboration in order to develop 21st century skills that increase student engagement and collaboration while working in a cloud based environment. Participants will use the wide range of Google tools including Drive, Classroom, Google+, Hangouts and YouTube for specific content areas. Participants will be introduced to Google Add-Ons that streamline grading, assessments and portfolios, as well as chrome extensions and mobile apps. The course requires participants to bring a laptop or Chromebook to access your Google account. Additional devices IOS iPad/iPhone can be used for the mobile portion of the class.

 

50375 EDUC 7108  Topics: Project Based Learning with Google Apps for Educators

August 1-5  Hybrid meets in class Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 8 am - 4 pm, with an online session on Wednesday

This course will focus on the key features of Project-Based Learning (PBL), a way to organize learning around projects that are student driven, with real world connections allowing participants to evaluate real problems while exploring curriculum content areas. The Genius Hour model allows students to work on engaging topics of interest while working with others. This course will build upon your technical knowledge covered in Google Apps for Educators, allowing you to dig deeper into your Google, web-based and mobile learning toolbox allowing participants to use tools connecting them to real world work. Prerequisite: EDUC 7205 Google Apps for Educators
