Graduate and Continuing Education at Fitchburg State has a program for you!

In addition to undergraduate degrees in nursing, occupational education, and business, we offer a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies where you can select a primary program of study (a university-approved minor) along with one or two other areas of study, and then complete a capstone project that ties them all together. Courses are offered in a variety of formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, online, and accelerated.IDIS

The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDIS) allows you to create the specific program that meets your needs. For example, let's presume that you want to be a technical writer. Technical_writer Getting just an English degree, or a computer science degree, or a business degree wouldn't seem to be enough, and earning all three degrees would take a lot of time and money. But, getting an IDIS degree allows you to meld all three disciplines into a single program that gets you to your goal sooner. Students work with an advisor who helps you design the program that works best for you, and they support you throughout the entire program with guidance and answers.

There are benefits to transferring

Have you attended more than one college? Did you change your major a few times while you tried to figure out what you wanted to do? Interdisciplinary Studies might be the right program for you, allowing you to pull together all of your credits earned to earn a degree. Transfer students may cluster credits from an older program and then begin a new minor at Fitchburg State to meet their current interests.

Still not sure what you want to do? IDIS gives you the chance to study your various interests without committing to one specific major. And you can move at the pace that works best for you.
