The following scholarships are available to graduate students only, and reference the requirements for applying.
The Dean's Graduate Scholarship is awarded to recognize and honor graduate students who have achieved academic excellence in the course of their graduate studies.
- Graduate students enrolled in a graduate program at the University must have a GPA of 4.0.
- Students who have applied to a graduate program at Fitchburg State must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or better and must be admitted to a program in order to use the award.
- Students submitting foreign transcripts must have them translated into English. The transcript must indicate the equivalent undergraduate GPA 3.5.on a 4.0 system.
Dorothy Holmes Toporeck Graduate Scholarship
The Dorothy Holmes Toporeck award is only open to graduate students who have received an undergraduate degree from Fitchburg State University. The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated scholastic excellence in their undergraduate studies and are pursuing a master’s degree at Fitchburg State.
- Entering students must have completed their undergraduate degree at Fitchburg State University with a 3.25 GPA or better, and have been accepted into a graduate program at Fitchburg State.
- Students currently enrolled in a graduate program must have a GPA of 3.75 for their graduate work, and an undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or better.
Scholarships will be awarded in the form of tuition and fee waivers and must be used within one year.
In addition to completing the scholarship application, you must provide a resume.
Jack and Lou Leamy Scholarship
The Jack and Lou Leamy Scholarship is only open to graduate students, with preference given to those who received an undergraduate degree from Fitchburg State. The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated a commitment to community service and are pursuing a master’s degree at Fitchburg State.
Scholarships will be awarded in the form of tuition and fee waivers and must be used within one year.
In addition to completing the scholarship application, you must provide an essay detailing your involvement in community service and why it is important to you.
Dr. Rosemarie Giovino Reading Specialist Scholarship
The Dr. Rosemarie Giovino Reading Specialist Scholarship is awarded to a current graduate student who has completed the following two required courses within the Reading Specialist Program, SPED/READ 7016 Understanding the Structure of the English Language and SPED/READ 7017 Psychology of Reading Development and Disabilities. Students must provide a letter of recommendation from the instructors, must also be currently Wilson Level 1 certified or in the process of registering or completing training to become certified and maintain a 3.5 CGPA. This scholarship is non-repeating.
Scholarships will be awarded in the form of tuition and fee waivers and must be used within one year. The maximum award to an individual cannot exceed $1,500.
In addition to completing the scholarship application, you must provide a resume.
All scholarships can be applied to by visiting Academic Works and signing in with your Falcon Key ID information. Search for the scholarship you wish to apply for and follow the directions.
Most scholarship applications have a deadline of the end of February.
