The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education Birth to 8 program at Fitchburg State will help you gain the skills you need to foster the development of young children in a number of early childhood and community-based settings such as:
- Child care centers
- Family child care
- Out-of-school time programs
Our program is designed to meet the needs of three distinct populations. Whether you operate a childcare agency, have earned your associates's degree in early childhood education or provide chidcare in a home and you're looking to make a career out of it, our program will fit your needs.
Do you have a childcare agency and want to improve your QRIS rating?
This program will give your staff the training they need to increase your rating and theirs, you’ll be demonstrating your center’s worth to parents and increase your access to funding. Our program meets the standards set in place by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).
Do you have an associate’s degree in early childhood education?
By earning your bachelor’s degree you’ll further enhance your education and gain valuable skills and resources that you can add to your toolset. You’ll also be more marketable.
Do you provide a lot of childcare and want to make it a career?
If you watch your neighbors kids but don’t have any formal training this program is just right for you. It will give you the training and skills you need to start your own daycare. It will teach you how to create a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment with engaging curriculum for diverse young children.
