General Chemistry Lab - Did We Make Aspirin?

Posted by Andy Cunningham on December 10, 2024 at 11:32 AM

Students in Biology and Chemistry Professor Billy Samulak's General Chemistry Lab try to figure out, with the help of a digital melting point apparatus, whether or not they successfully made aspirin in an earlier lab. The course explores the fundamental laws and theories of chemistry such as atomic structure, the periodic table, electrochemistry, descriptive inorganic chemistry, the gas laws, solutions, equilibrium calculations and chemical bonding. Chemical calculations are emphasized.
