The LPN to BS in Nursing Bridge Program is designed to transition the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to the role of a baccalaureate prepared Registered Nurse (RN).

This unique program spans both Graduate and Continuing Education (GCE) and day course schedules creating an accelerated curriculum. This approach allows you to attain your goals as quickly as possible while keeping you on a schedule that works with your career demands.

Courses offered or taken through the day division in fall and spring carry the undergraduate day tuition and fees; courses offered in the evening, winter, or summer through GCE carry the undergraduate GCE tuition and fees.

Early fall is the best time to begin an application to the program to allow you more time to gather your documents and complete the NACE exams. Here are some helpful tips to get you through the application process this fall:

Register for your NACE Exams

Students have two chances at the NACE Exams in an admission cycle (September to March), and there are definitely advantages to taking the exams in the fall. Passing the exam on the first attempt allows you to check an item off of your application checklist and relieve the stress of studying for exams. And if you don’t pass the first time, you’ll have more time to learn what areas you're struggling with and what areas you need to study more for your next attempt at the exam. The only way to know what’s on the exam and what areas you need to spend more time on is to take the exam. Do yourself a favor and don't put it off.

Start asking for recommendations

You need to submit at least two letters of recommendation, one from an instructor in your PN program and one from a current employer. We all know instructors, directors and supervisors have busy schedules and limited time to write recommendations. Asking for your letters of recommendation early allows your references more time to complete a well-written recommendation, highlighting your skillset and assets to your place of employment.

Request your transcripts

Contact your PN school and any other regionally accredited colleges or universities you’ve attended to have your transcripts mailed directly to the Admissions Office. Transcripts must be received in a sealed envelope to be considered official.  Students can also have their transcripts sent electronically from their previously attended college or university.  These transcripts are received through E-Script, Parchment or The Clearinghouse.

Write your essay

Discuss your reasons for applying to the LPN to BS in nursing program. Highlight your skills, interests, professional nursing experiences and career goals. We want to hear about you and what makes you a great candidate for the program!

The next cohort of the LPN to BS in Nursing Bridge Program students will enter in the fall 2018 semester.

In addition to the essay, a great way for the committee to get to know you is by submitting a copy of your resume. It can show the committee your interest in the profession and where you are hoping to go. We encourage students to upload this after submitting their application.
