7 steps to start your first semester off right at Fitchburg State

Returning to school can be quite overwhelming, especially if you’ve been out of school for a while. So now that you’ve worked hard to complete your application and gain admission into the University, what should you do next? Here are some helpful tips to start your semester off right:

 

 

  1. Return your Intent to Enroll form to the Admissions Office.

Can’t start this semester? Need to change your enrollment term to a different semester? Contact the Admissions Office at 978-665-3144 to discuss your deferment options.

 

  1. Explore your financing options. FAFSA

Have you heard about the new payment plan? Trouble completing your FAFSA application? Check out the financing options available for Graduate and Continuing Education students or call the Financial Aid Office at 978-665-3156.

 

  1. Contact your Program Advisor.

Discuss your transfer credits, map out a plan of study and select courses for your first semester with your appointed advisor

 

  1. Register for classes

Once you know what classes you need to take register for the upcoming semester. Find the classes you need on the course schedule/seats available list. If this is your first time taking a class call the Registrar’s Office at 978-665-4196 sign up over the phone. If you’re a returning student log into your Web4 account and add your classes. Don’t forget your Course Request Number (CRN.) Not sure how to navigate the seats list? Want to add your name to the waitlist for a full course? Watch a tutorial.

Thinking about a summer class? Registration for summer 2016 opens April 11th online, by phone and in person.

 

  1. Log into your student.fitchburgstate.edu email.  

MAIL_web-icon-buttonIt’s important to keep up with your student.fitchburgstate.edu email throughout the semester. Keep up to date with your instructor as well as get valuable updates from Graduate and Continuing Education and other important offices.

 

 

  1. Log into Blackboard

Is this your first time taking an online class? Complete the online course demo in Blackboard. This is a self-paced demonstration that you can watch as many times as you need. Get familiar with the online learning system before the start of class. Questions or problems logging in call the 24/7 IT Help Desk at 978-665-4500.

  1. Get your One Card and GCE Student Parking Pass.

Visit the One Card Office or apply online. GCE students can receive a parking pass free of charge, visit their website for more details.
